Wanted: Coworking Manager(s?)

Posted in News, Operations on March 9th, 2010 by toddoneill – Be the first to comment

C4 Workspace is looking for someone to replace the irreplaceable Chris Godfrey. (Yes, we know, big shoes to fill. Actually, his shoes are pretty average but Chris is defintely far above.)

So here’s the deal. We need help with:

  • Managing the space
  • Minding the store
  • Community events wrangling
  • Building community

We realize that 9-6, 5 days a week might be too much for one person. We totally get that. Our main concern is opening the space and prepping it for the day, so the only time you’d really NEED to be at the space is from 9am until after lunch. You’re welcome to stay longer, but if you’ve got a part time job or class or familial responsibilities we’re willing to work with you. We’re open to a job share – 2 people to share the load!

The ideal candidate is someone who would want to be a member of C4 Workspace to begin with!

Check out the full job description here.

Coworking Holiday Hours

Posted in News on December 22nd, 2009 by toddoneill – Be the first to comment

The next two weeks are probably the most unusual in business. Heck, even for retailers this time of year isn’t like normal day to day operations.

C4 Workspace will be closed on Christmas Eve and Christmas Day. If you need to get away from the retail insanity on Saturday the 26th (after picking up wrapping paper on deep discount) we’ll be open from 9 am to 1 pm as usual.

Next week we’ll be open Monday the 28th through Thursday the 31st from 8:30 am to 6 pm. And since New Year’s Day is on First Friday this year we’ll have our monthly First Friday Open House from 5 pm to 8 pm.

If you don’t have to work we hope you’ll enjoy the season and spending the time with your family and friends. We will!

Tweaking the Space

Posted in News on November 4th, 2009 by toddoneill – Be the first to comment

We’ve always thought of the space as flexible, reconfigurable and evolutionary. Almost every time you come in you’ll see something a little different.

  • There are doors on most of the rooms now.
  • We’ve covered the big hole in front of the HVAC units with a curtain.(The fuse panel is next.)
  • One of the phone rooms has been sound treated eliminating almost 100% of the echo.
  • We have lockers near the left hand bathroom for member storage.

Next on the list is to tweak the lighting with some china ball paper lanterns in the community space. Over the holidays we’ll drape strings of lights down from the ceiling. Drop on by and check it out.

Busy Day and Night

Coworking Made Simple

Posted in Desk Plans, Membership, News on November 2nd, 2009 by toddoneill – Be the first to comment

There was a fair amount of planning that went into opening C4 Workspace. We thought a lot about pricing and benefits. We were influenced by examples from many spaces around the country. Our mission is to be a sustainable professional community and that means we need to have the right mix of service and prices. So we’re making a change in our grand experiment.

Our Part Time Desk Plan is No More. Gone. Obliterated. It is an ex-Desk Plan. But like a phoenix a new plan has risen from the proverbial primordial coworking soup. We call it…wait for it…

The Coworker Plan

Snappy, huh?

Instead of 10 days a month with the old Part Time plan the Coworker Plan gives you access to the space for as little or as much time as you’d need anytime during normal business hours: 8:30 am – 6 pm, Monday through Friday or 9 am – 1 pm on Saturday. Any of the shared desks are yours to use. The conference room and phone rooms are available. The kitchen, the fridge and microwave, the couch – yours to use. Yea, verily! The bathrooms, ye left side and ye right side are yours to use! All for the same price as that stinky old Part Time Desk Plan: $150 a month or $135 a month with a 12 month agreement. Such. A. Deal!

Give us a call, drop us a line, tweet us a tweet or heck! Drop on by for more information! Sign up for a desk while you’re here!

Memebrship Made More Simpler!

When we opened we had two kinds of membership: Coworker and Community. And there was some confusion about that. And now with a desk plan called “Coworker” and a membership called “Coworker”, well, you can see where the confusion might deepen, so… PRESTO! We are all just Members! When membership comes up for renewal everyone will renew as a C4 Workspace Member. It just that simple!

Our 5 Seconds of Fame

Geomedia Creative Civilization Express-News Spot

Coming soon to a television screen near you is C4Workspace’s broadcast debut.

Our lounge area was used for a segment of an upcoming San Antonio Express-News commercial spot. The spot was shot by Geomedia for their client Creative Civilization. Here are some snaps of the “making of”.

For you production geeks, the spot was shot with a RED camera and the images were stunning.

So, while you’re flipping through the channels watch for the young professional woman reading a newspaper in a very cool looking blue office. That’s  us!

Wait for it…wait for it…aww, you missed it!

Check Out the Events Calendar

Posted in Events, News on June 12th, 2009 by toddoneill – Comments Off

We found a cool Wordpress plugin, wpng-calendar, to display a feed of the C4 Workspace Events Calendar from Google Calendar in Wordpress. Except it hasn’t worked for a few weeks. That was a bummer. Until I found the problem. (It doesn’t play well with WP-Hashcash plugin.) So now it works!

You can check the site for the calendar in the sidebar. Or on the Calendar page under Events.

And if you would like to subscribe to the C4 Workspace Events Calendar directly just use the following address:
